What comes to your mind and heart when you hear the term “leadership?” What kinds of leadership do you see in your students? Yourselves? Your schools or organizations? How do you measure the success of your leadership? Relational leadership is a model that suggests the effectiveness of a leader relies on their ability to develop positive relationships with themselves, the class and within their school. It relates to the process of people working together to achieve the greater good or accomplish a positive change. Relational leaders use mindfulness, empathy and relational skills to empower themselves, their students and their teams to grow, build skills and reach shared goals. This session will examine core elements of relational leadership and explore how we can cultivate them in our students, ourselves and our organizations.
