SPEAKER: JOHN WORNE

John is Chief Executive at the Chartered Institute of Linguists. CIOL is the UK’s Royal Chartered body for language professionals and seeks to promote languages and language skills in the public interest, as well as providing professional language qualifications in the UK and internationally. Founded in 1910, today CIOL has over 7,000 members in the UK and worldwide.

 

In his past roles, John has developed, led and delivered strategy, people and technology-based transformation in international businesses, government, at the British Council and in two major UK universities. An experienced spokesperson, public speaker and writer, for eight years John regularly represented the British Council and the value of UK culture, education, English and other languages in print, social media and on TV and radio. He has lived and worked overseas in many different working cultures in Europe, Asia, South America and all around the world. He is a graduate of the University of Oxford, speaks French, has some Spanish and developing Italian.

With over 20 years of working in senior leadership roles around the world and over thirty years of working in English language education and assessment, Terry is an internationally recognised leader in international relations and language education. Former Regional Director and Head of Education and English for the British Council, the UK’s international organisation for educational and cultural relations, he has extensive experience of senior level leadership in multi-national, public purpose organisations, creating and implementing strategy and leading and motivating international teams with a strong knowledge and first-hand experience of cultures across East Asia, Europe and South America. 

 

Terry sits on the Council of Durham University and works with the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) on quality and standards. Terry has very wide inter-cultural experience and a knowledge of 8 foreign languages: German, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, French, Korean, Chinese and Swedish.

SPEAKER: MARÍA BELÉN GONZÁLEZ MILBRANDT

María Belén holds a Licentiate degree in Educational Sciences and is a graduate teacher of English from IES Olga Cossettini (Rosario). Founder and director of Becomers.

She is an expert in Innovation and Educational Management, also has broad experience in organizing and supervising tailor-made courses for companies as well as congresses and other events for teachers and translators.


She has designed and delivered workshops and training courses for teachers and coordinators in the fields of business English, management strategies and methodology.
María Belén is an inspirational and passionate speaker who is always willing to share her knowledge and experience!

SPEAKER: JAIR FÉLIX

Jair Félix, National Geographic Learning Senior ELT Academic Consultant for Latin America, has a B.A. in TEFL from Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa in Mexico and a Post-Graduate Degree on Teachers’ Development from The College of St. Mark & St. John, Plymouth, UK. Jair has been involved in language teaching and teacher training for over 24 years and has conducted workshops on various topics such as lesson planning, discourse analysis for language teachers, action research, educational technologies, and 21st century skills, among others.
