“Then, Now, Next…Where to from here in ELT?”
JULY 16 & 17
English may have transformed the world, but with non-native speakers now outnumbering native speakers 3 to 1, the language – and the way it is taught and learnt – is being reshaped in return. The globalization and adaptation of English, the impact that technology has had on it, and the way the pandemic has challenged how it is presented to students, will revolutionize the language in ways we can only begin to imagine. Is that good or bad? Depends on who’s talking…

In this virtual conference, we aim to explore some of the ways in which globalization, rapidly-developing technology, and global issues -including a pandemic! - are influencing the use of English, ELT course content and teaching methods, and the different roads our profession might follow based on current trends and possible future needs both globally and in our own Mexican context.
The Theme of the virtual conference, “Then, Now, Next…Where to from here in ELT?” will underpin the need for collaboration and cooperation from a wide range of English language professionals. We aim for the program to offer participants extensive selections of innovative and interesting topics, with presentations and workshops. This conference will be an excellent opportunity to enhance and strengthen your knowledge and practice.
Finally, we would like to thank each of you in advance for attending our virtual conference and bringing your expertise to our gathering. You, as English language professionals have the vision, the knowledge, the wherewithal and the experience to help us pave our way into the future. Throughout this conference, we ask you to stay engaged, keep us proactive and help us shape the future of ELT at TecNM.
